To start, I am a 17-year-old senior attending Mirus Secondary School in Southern California. I have been playing this game that I truly love for 9 years now and have enjoyed every step of the process. I am glad to say that I am a part of the Junior Scholarship Program at The Palms Golf Club in La Quinta, CA. Ever since becoming a member in the summer of 2019, my game has reached a whole new level. Most of that had to do with the world-class practice facility they have. I am mostly out there every weekend when I don’t have any tournaments for 6 to 8 hours a day. Many of our juniors have gone to continue their golf careers at top colleges after high school and I would like to add my name to that list. I currently have a USGA handicap of +3.2 from course yardages between 6700 and 7100.
Off of the course, I am maintaining a solid GPA of 4.35 while trying to balance my academic, athletic, and social life. This school year for me will be busy academically as I will be taking many AP and honor classes while studying for my future SATs and ACTs later in the year. I am looking to attend a college that has my preferred major which is Business.
Even though golf is an individual sport, my experience playing high school golf has taught me the importance of teamwork and team bonding. It is nice knowing that I can get help from my fellow teammates when I’m struggling with anything since I have such a strong relationship with every one of them. I know that all of this information I am learning during high school will apply to my future collegiate golf family. My goal is to attend a college where I know my teammates will be supportive and kind while also having the desire to win no matter the situation.
