My goal to qualify for the SCPGA Toyota Tour has taught me the importance of mental toughness and resilience. I am currently ranked third out of 300 for the field of golfers from graduating years 2020 to 2023 on the SCPGA Player’s Tour. This fall, I have placed second in the Los Amigos Fall Challenge, second in the Hansem Dam Fall Challenge, second in the Knollwood Fall challenge, and fourth in the Santa Anita Fall Challenge.
I play in tournaments twice a week. Some of these tournaments take place hours away from my home. Through this schedule, I have learned the importance of staying focused and mentally prepared for each tournament. I have developed a strategy to remind myself that it is ok to make mistakes and that the most important part of every golf game is ro recover strong for the following shot.
Seeing the same players at every tournament, I have also come to appreciate the brotherhood that exists between us. I am inspired to play my best in every tournament because I know that pushes the entire field forward. In college, I am excited to join a team where I can contribute to my teammate’s success as much as my own. I hope to bring my mental toughness as an individual player to my future teammates and share my experiences with them.
