My name is Troy Riley, I am a golfer in the class of 2023. I live and go to school in Southern California and my high school is Trabuco Hills High School. I have played golf for as long as I can remember, I got my first official set of clubs when I was around 5. I started playing on the SCPGA junior league when I was 8 and also joined the US Kids tour when I was around 13. Along with set tours, I have participated in the Drive, Chip, and Putt various times qualifying for the second stage of the program a single time. I have won various tournaments and have placed top 3 in many others. In the past I have also qualified for various 2 day tournaments that with time would lead me to play in the Toyota Tour Cup at a young age. By the time I reached high school as a freshman I decided to try my luck with football and became the mvp that season as a running back and safety. The same year I also played varsity golf as a freshman but the season was cut short due to the COVID 19 outbreak. My sophomore year I became injured during the off season for football and was unable to play. When golf came around I continued to play at the varsity level with my team winning league and qualifying for CIF. So far my junior year I have played varsity football in which we won league and went to CIF. I am continuing to start varsity golf. As well as my golf history I have been committed to my schooling earning honor roll all through school till 8th grade. During high school I have kept consistent grades adding up to a weighted GPA of 3.7. Because of my experience with commitment in football and the consistency of my grades throughout my schooling life I see myself as a student athlete who works well in team environments as well as on my own. I have always worked for things that I want in life, working with my Dad in his business to earn money or help friends fathers with construction or really anything to make cash. Coaches would see my attitude as something worth using to help a team move in a better direction. I strive to perform to the best of my ability and work hard both on and off the golf course. My career during and after college is a big part of why college is a good fit for me, I am pursuing to become an architect and achieve a masters degree. Compared to most golfers my age, I have the maximum amount of experience with golf that someone my age can have. Also, my experience with a more physically challenging and rigorous sport like football show values of teamwork, hard work, and commitment. Because of experience, ability and skill in golf, signs of commitment, signs of teamwork, and my academics I believe I would be a great fit for any golf team.
