My name is Taiga Minami and I started seriously playing golf when Covid-19 occurred. I realized that golf is a metaphor for life and that I can take lessons I learn from golf like overcoming bad shots into other aspects of my life. I started to practice for several hours a day, trying to improve my game, and realized how enjoyable the journey to playing good golf is. My strengths are working diligently, not giving up on a round even after a poor start, and listening to my coaches. In fact during the high school league championship this year I recovered from four bogeys in the first five holes to shoot +5 and was happy with the way I responded to adversity. My goals are to play college golf at a university that suits me on the course, but more importantly in the classroom. I love statistics and sports and would like to major in business or finance. I would also like to see how far my golf game can go and challenge myself to play to the best of my ability. For me that means working on my mental game and trusting that a stronger mental state will help me make better decisions and execute on the course. I would love to play in college and would be willing to talk to any coach that would give me a chance to play college golf.
