I have been playing golf since I was 10 years old and instantly fell in love with the sport. I love that this game has something I can always be working at to improve. By the time I was 12 years old, I knew I wanted to play at the college level to get me to my ultimate goal of playing professional golf. So, I’ve been working every day refining my skills to prepare for golf at the college level.
Although golf is an individual sport, I have found it to be a game that has helped me bond with people. I have made new friends on my middle school and high school golf team. It has brought my dad and I closer together as he was my caddie when I first began to play. Golf has also helped me to meet people of different backgrounds and ages because I have been able to play with some of my dad’s friends or in pick up games at my home course.
In the classroom, I also work hard to maintain a high GPA. I was recognized as a Scholar Athlete for maintaining a 4.0 during my golf season. I also was awarded Principal's Award for my high academics and excellent citizenship. My teachers would say that I am a person of integrity and empathy.
I am currently a high school freshman and am working to lower my tournament scoring average. I know with hard work and dedication focusing on fitness, mental strength and all aspects of my golf game I will continue to improve.
