May 2021Personal Statement
My name is Garrett Exelbert I go to Glenwood Springs High School, in Glenwood Springs Colorado. I’m currently a Senior in high school. I have loved the game of golf even since I laid hands on the club. I have five siblings so I learned a lot along through out my childhood. I‘ve learned to be a leader on and off the golf course. I’ve also learned to become very competitive with never wanting to lose a round of golf to my older brothers. All these lessens have lead me to be a very dedicated and hard working athlete, that is never satisfied, I always want to make sure I’m the best I can be. In my freshman year of High School I placed top ten in the state tournament, and was named First Team All State. I then continued to win a few JGAC (Junior Golf Alliance Of Colorado) events. My sophomore year I won quite a few of events through out my season posting a low score of 68. In the state tournament I placed top 30. I’ve learned a lot from that tournament and have never been more excited to bounce back and continue to improve. This past JGAC season I was named into The All Star Team. This year as a Junior I posted another top 10 finish in the state. I mentally battled to finished out my second day even though the execution was not on point. I’m currently changing my swing to allow it the body’s way. With this change it will increase my speed, power, and efficiency.
Another one of my passions is Basketball, I started playing ever since I was in first grade. I play Point guard and like creating the plays and being a play maker.
In school I continue to excel maintaining a 3.97 GPA out my high school career.
