I am very interested in playing competitive golf in college while earning a bachelor's degree. My hope is to limit the cost of my education with scholarships. To date, I have lettered and competed at a high level in several sports including cross country, hockey, track and recently golf, making it to State in all four sports. I have been told by coaches that I am a natural athlete. Growing up in a small town in the Colorado Rockies has afforded me the opportunity to explore many sports. In addition to conventional competitive sports, I also enjoy skiing, mountain biking, climbing and river surfing. Competitive golf is relatively new for me and I really enjoy it. I grew up playing golf with my father (6 handicap), who taught me the game. I have also worked at our local course, Dos Rios Golf Club, for 2 summers. I earned over $7,000 last summer in wages working in the cart barn. While I have always loved golf, I was a very good runner. High school cross country season conflicted with the golf season and I was pressured by coaches to stick with running. I competed at the Colorado 3A State Cross Country Meet my Freshman, Sophomore and Junior years, finishing 30th in the State my Junior year. During the summer prior to my senior year, I started playing more golf and really fell in love with the game. After consulting with my coaches, I made the difficult decision to play golf instead of running. It was a bit of a gamble since I had no experience with golf in a competitive setting other than caddying for my Dad. While I struggled at first, I had a lot of growth during the season. It was challenging and I embraced that challenge. I tied for 9th place at Regionals, qualifying for the Colorado 3A State Tournament with a score of 80. I then went on to take 38th at State at Spring Valley Golf Club with a two day score of 162, receiving an Colorado All State Honorable Mention. I made a lot of progress in a couple of months, but feel I have yet to reach my potential on the course. Other than my Dad, I have never had any formal training or coaching. I am looking for a coach and school who can help me take my game and academics to the next level.
