Colby Powell '20 Recruiting Profile

My name is Colby L. Powell, I am from Washington, DC.  I am interested in pursuing studies associated with P.G.A. Management, minoring in Business Administration. However, my passion is and will always be golf. It is my hope to align my passion with my career.

I was introduced to the game of golf at age five. Who would have ever known that chasing a white ball would change my entire childhood and would set me on a course that would provide me with a plethora or opportunities.  Many of these opportunities were a direct result of my involvement with the First Tee of Greater Washington program. When you first hear of First Tee, one would assume that is was just a program that taught kids to play golf, but it is so much more than that.  The First Tee core values helped shape me into the young man I have become. 

I carry myself confidently and with integrity in every interaction. I show respect to everyone that I meet, on the streets, at school, community engagements and on the course because everyone is so deserving of my respect.  I act responsibly while engaged in the play of golf and in my community. I display genuine honesty as it is woven into every part of my being.

I stay the course by remaining focused and preserver through challenging courses, relationships and classes that I endure. A conscious effort to execute sound judgement and only engage in activities that are reflective of my character.  Through sportsmanship and I exhibit fairness to others in various situations and obedience to the laws, rules and regulations set forth. Finally, courtesy is the action of being polite which is the etched in my DNA.

Abiding by these nine core values was never easy, but I always knew that one day it would be worth it. Now, I see more than one could ever imagine.  I see myself taking leaps and bounds into my future without hesitation determine to fulfil all of dreams.
