I have been playing golf since the age of 5. Since I began playing, I have always known it is important to practice in order to achieve my goals. I have aspirations of playing golf in college. My family has always supported me and allowed me every opportunity to achieve my goals and I am very grateful.
I have been playing golf on my school team since I was 11. I have been named MVP of the junior varsity team three years and MVP of the varsity team three years. I have been voted the team captain 3 years in a row. I try to always listen to my team members and help them when I can. I maintain my composure on the golf course in order to maintain my game and set a good example for my teammates. I listen to my coaches and try to use what they tell me to help improve my golf game.
I am a good student and maintain a 3.4 GPA in all honor classes. I take responsibility for all my work.
I have set goals for myself in golf, school and life in general. I work everyday at achieving these goals. I try to do my best in everything I do. I also feel that it is important to give back to others whenever I can. I have helped out with junior golf camps and I volunteer as a golf coach and mentor with Special Olympics. Last year I organized a Birdie-A-Thon at my school. The golf team raised $6,000 by securing sponsors to pay the team for each birdie scored during our season. All the funds raised went to Special Olympics in my area so that the Special Olympics athletes can travel to and compete in State competitions.
I am planning on continuing the Birdie-A-Thon this school year. The money raised will go to benefit youth homeless population in my area.
I feel I would be a good candidate for any team because of the following attributes:
1) I am consistent on the golf course and have continued to drop my scores, 2) I have a desire to improve my golf game and listen to all the suggestions given to me by my coaches and team mates, 3) I am a hard worker , 4) I maintain a positive attitude on and off the course, 5) I am a team player, trustworthy and loyal, 6) I am a good student, and 7) I have the support of my family.
I would appreciate a chance to discuss my game, my goals and how I can contribute to the school and team.
