Hello, my name is Maddox Ketelaar and I am in the graduating class of 2026 from Saddlebrook Preparatory School in Wesley Chapel, Florida. My goal is to attend a college or university that is highly competitive both academically and athletically for men’s golf. Attending a Boarding School is helping me lay a strong foundation of work ethic, personal independence, and time management in the classroom and on the golf course. Throughout early grade school I maintained a high level of academic success and played multiple sports since I was five years old, including baseball, basketball and American football and believe that I am coachable player that wants to continue to get better. I was the basketball team Captain for my middle school team, was selected to the District All Star baseball team for four years in a row and received the Coaches Award for my middle school golf team in 7th and 8th grade and finished my school team golf career as the NH D1 District Champion. My goal going forward is to take the game of golf as far as I can beyond High School and college while earning my degree.
My school and golf schedule allows me to train 20+ hours per week as I follow the Saddlebrook Golf Academy program which mirrors most college athletic/academic schedules. In addition, I practice another 10+ hours on my own working on all facets of the game and physical conditioning to help lower my tournament scores and keep improving. This year I was awarded the position of Vice President of the Student Body and maintained my position as a Spartan Ambassador, giving me valuable leadership experience that I hope to bring to my college golf team, my community, and beyond. To this point in my High School career I am proud that I have earned a 4.06 G.P.A after my Sophmore year and will look to build on this going forward. I became a Champion on the Florida Junior Tour (April 2023) with a sudden death playoff win in Vero Beach, FL, an accomplishment I am very proud of and hope get many more in the years to come. As of September 2024 I am ranked 300 in the class of 2026 and about 900 in the nation with a scoring average of 72.7 and a scoring differential of -.56. I have no doubt my best golf is still in front of me.
