Being a shorter athlete has helped become a harder worker in the sport of golf. I don't hit the ball very far, so I had to maximize my other skills, such as my short game. I picked up a golf club when I was 2, and ever since then my primary focus was my chipping and putting. When my dad did not want to spend money on range balls, we chipped and putt for hours on end. After years of practice, I started to become really good at the sport. My dad and I would always do short game competitions, at one point I was beating him a lot, but I lost too. This is where I developed one of the most important skills in life, being a good sport. I realized win or lose, to always be humble because it happens to the best of us and no one is ever going to be perfect. No sport is possible to master, especially golf. There are so many mental and physical components to the sport that make it one of the hardest in the world to be proficient at. That is why I love it. I love it because there is always more to do and practice every day, and I will make sure to be learning something new every day at your college.
