My name is Kaisaan Virani and I am currently a senior at Sage International School in Boise, Idaho. I have been playing golf for the last six years and I was born and raised in Nairobi Kenya. I moved to Boise, Idaho two years ago and my aspiration is to play collegiate golf and become a golfing professional. I have been inspired by Tiger Woods and Rory McLroy and I have watched my handicap drop from 20 (five years ago) to currently at 2. My best round so far in Boise has been one-under-par. I am constantly challenging myself to get better, to push my boundaries and most importantly to not be afraid of failure.
I also love soccer having played for Timberline High School's Junior Varsity Team in 2019 where I was the team's highest goal scorer. I am currently in Timberline's Varsity Team where I play Number 2. We managed to play only a few games this year before the season was called off as a result of COVID-19. I am confident that we will play in the Spring of 2021 and look forward to the golf season.
In Kenya, I have won a number of tournaments and was proud of my achievement in the Kenya Junior Open Championship in 2018 where I finished Runner Up in the 14-16 Year Category. I was inspired by that win and have committed myself to helping under privileged golfers in Africa in my career.
I have been fortunate in being very well traveled in at least 10 countries, spanning four continents accompanying my father in his work in conservation of birds of prey around the world. Since my father is a working class person in Boise and my mom is unemployed, they do not have much money to contribute toward my college expenses. I am hoping that my golfing and like skills will enable me to get a golfing scholarship.
What makes me a good candidate is that I am well traveled, multilingual, have a holistic view of the world, a possess a natural ability to be empathetic and a dream to make our world a better place especially for underprivileged children in Kenya.
