I grew up playing travel hockey and baseball. There was never time for golf. Playing these sports taught me a lot of great things. Determination, self discipline, work ethic and respect just to name a few. Maybe the best part was being part of a team and working together with my teammates to achieve a goal.
So golf started late for me. A chance meeting with with the high school golf coach led to me taking a few swings in front of him. He thought I had some potential and asked me if I would consider playing golf. That was in November of 2018 and it really changed everything for me. I instantly fell in love with the game and practiced (indoors) almost every day. I then worked all spring and summer and wound up making the varsity golf team. My goal is to continue to get better and play golf in college at the highest level I can.
Golf has taught me patience and that success can take time and definitely takes hard work. It's also taught me that nothing will be given to me, that I have to earn everything I get. In my first tournament in the spring of 2019 I shot a 104. Several months later after a ton of work my club head speed is 114. My team won the Marian Catholic Regional at Calumet Country Club and I was the Individual Champion shooting a 79 and then winning on the first playoff hole with a par. This was my junior year and my first season playing competitive golf. I just finished my senior season and posted my best competitive round with a 75. I made it to IHSA Sectionals where I shot 78 and tied 9th out of about 70 players. I qualified for State but unfortunately Illinois cancelled the State Tournament this year. I will continue to get better.
I know how important academics are and I have dedicated myself for junior and senior year to improve my overall GPA. I have an interest in business and computer science. I am a quick learner and a hard worker and plan on using both of those qualities to finish up high school strong and be ready for the next level in college.
The goal for me is to find the right college academically and for golf. I want to be a part of team and help in any way I can to make that team successful. I now have 2 years of competitive golf under my belt. I have improved a lot but I think I am just scratching the surface of my overall potential. I was just accepted at TPS Player Service in Downers Grove, IL. I will be training their through the fall, winter and spring and I know I will continue to get better. If there is an opportunity to earn a roster spot on your team please consider me. Thank you for your time.
