My main passion is golf. I didn't start playing until my freshman year of high school when my grandmother asked me to play with her one day. Since that day I haven't wanted to stop playing.
I played club baseball from the time I was eight years old and always thought I'd go on to play in college. But that day changed everything. I went out every day over the summer determined to learn to play well enough to play in high school, which I did. I played in my first ever golf tournament freshman year and the desire grew even stronger. Although I was still playing year around baseball, I continued to play golf and take lessons every chance I had.
I was a pitcher and left outfielder. I loved pitching. My high school went to state for baseball and took second place my sophomore year, it was a phenomenal experience with a great team of players and coaches. But junior year I realized if I ever wanted to progress further in golf that I'd have to give up playing year around baseball because every minute I played baseball was time away from developing as a golfer. I also began noticing that pitching today and playing in an 18-hole golf tournament tomorrow wasn't helping my shoulder/arm. Last year, as hard as it was, I made the decision to give up baseball.
Since then, I took a job at Far Oak Golf Course. And, this past year I was promoted from the cart barn to greens maintenance (which I love). All summer, I chose the 4:45 AM shift so I could work till 2 PM and then play a round of golf every day after work.
I play golf every chance I get. Over the past three years I've progressed tremendously as a player, and I know at the right college I can progress so much further. Since I've been playing such a short period of time and playing "catch up" I know I lack some course management skills but I am confident that once I have the proper coaching and environment that my scores will lower tremendously.
My goal is to find a school where I am able to continue playing golf and developing at the next level while pursuing my college education, possibly in business/pre-law. I cannot imagine not playing golf in college. I will work every single day as hard as I can to improve, be the best golfer I can and work to my fullest potential.
I love to stay busy and active, and I really enjoy being around people. I love helping others and leading. I can ensure you that once you meet me and see my drive and determination that you'll feel the same way.
