2021 SpotlightPersonal Statement
My name is Pablo Castro; I have played varsity golf at Palatine High School since my freshman year.
I started playing golf at the age of 6, and I have loved it ever since. I enjoy competing in tournaments, practicing, and improving my skills over time.
My current 18 holes average is 72.6- and 9 holes average is 35.4
My tournament scoring differential is 0.89
I have made it to the regional championship of the Drive, Chip, and Putt, and also played tournaments across the country as well as myriad local tournaments through IJGA, MAJGT and PGA Jr League.

In 2021, I won the MSL (Mid-Suburban League) Player of the Year, and qualified to state as a sophomore. 2021 season includes 7 top 10 finishes at 18-hole invites, as well as a medalist finish at the Ivanhoe invite with a 71 (-1).
This September 2022, I won the MSL (Mid-Suburban League) Player of the Year again. This is two years in a row as the Player of the Year for the MSL Conference. This season, I also broke the record for Palatine High School for a 9 hole match with a 31.
I qualified for the IHSA State Tournament in 2021 and 2022.
I am an All-State golfer in 2022; I finished Top 10 at the IHSA tournament.
In terms of my academic profile, I am an honors and AP student, and I hope to pursue a career in law, business, finance, or education. I am also bilingual and speak Spanish as well as English.
In 2022, I am going to focus on developing a good ranking in the Junior Golf Scoreboard as well as improving my scoring.
