Personal Statement

I love the game of golf!

I have been playing since I was 5 years old. Every year my dedication to working hard and doing what it takes to become an elite golfer grows. In 2020 my tournament scoring average was 80.7, in 2021 it was 78.4 and this year I have shaved almost 5 shots off of my average for a 73.5.

I am dedicated to working hard; both in the gym and on the course, to improve my scores and become more consistent.

I am a coachable player with a strong work ethic, leadership skills and a competitive drive. My easy-going personality allows me to adapt easily and remain steady under the ever-changing challenges and pressures of golf, academics and life.

I believe I have a lot to offer a team if given a chance and will give 110% to my school, coaches and teammates.

Sincerely,

Joseph H. Armfield

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • IGF Champions Point JR.
  • 10/22/22 to 10/23/22
  • 79-70 4th place. The first day I had a few bad swings that costed me a couple double bogeys. I turned it around the second day to post the best round of the day.
  • Camp/Event
  • GolfWeek Junior Tour at Players Club
  • 9/17/22 to 9/18/22
  • Score: 75-73 Finished 7/70. I was not striking the ball well on the first day and just wasn’t able to find many fairways or hit enough greens but my short game was able to keep me near par. I was able to hit the ball better on day two, hitting 12 of 14 fairways and hitting 13 of 18 greens. My putting was strong but I was unable to get several of my near misses to fall for birdie. I will be working hard this week on putting and continue to work with my swing coach to continue to improve my ball striking.
  • Camp/Event
  • GolfWeek Junior Tour at Purdue Kampen
  • 8/27/22 to 8/28/22
  • Score: 76-73, Finished 14/68. I struggled this week but was proud of how I was able to grind out a +4 score over the two days considering it wasn't my best game.
  • Camp/Event
  • GolfWeek Junior Tour at Rock Hollow Golf Club
  • 8/20/22 to 8/21/22
  • Score: 73-70 Finished 4/60. I hit 15 greens both days and averaged 30 putts for the tournament. Overall I was proud of my performance with a tournament score of 1 under par.
  • Camp/Event
  • GolfWeek Junior Tour at Purdue Ackerman
  • 8/06/22 to 8/07/22
  • Score: 75-70 Finished 12/79 I was struggling off the tee on day one and just couldn’t give myself good birdie opportunities. I was able to get it worked out, missing only 2 fairways for my 2nd round. I was very proud of how I bounced back and finished strong with a 2 under par 70.
  • Camp/Event
  • Masters Tour Championship
  • 7/24/22 to 7/25/22
  • Score: 74-75 Finished 12/46 On the first day I was playing really well, but the weather wasn’t good and after 3 rain delays the tournament was suspended for the day. I was sitting at even par thru 11 holes. On the second day of the tournament I woke up with the stomach flu. I went out and finished my first round at 2 over then went immediately into my 2nd round which I finished at 3 over. I was struggling with severe stomach pains for all 25 holes that day. I was disappointed that I wasn’t able to score as well as I know I was capable of, but I was proud of myself for powering through the discomfort and giving it everything I had.
  • Camp/Event
  • Boys Indiana Jr. PGA Championship
  • 7/14/22 to 7/15/22
  • Score: 74-72 Finished 6/151 I played most of my 2nd round in the torrential (sideways at times) rain. I was very proud of how I was able to stay focused and not let the weather effect my play. After the round I won in a 2 hole playoff for the 5th alternate spot to the 2022 Boys Junior PGA Championship.
  • Camp/Event
  • Central Junior Masters
  • 7/10/22 to 7/11/22
  • Score: 74-72 Finished 6/49
  • Camp/Event
  • Indiana Boys State Junior Championship
  • 6/27/22 to 6/28/22
  • Score: 74-73 Finished 15/112 This was the strongest field of the year. There was a one day qualifier to be eligible for this tournament. They took roughly the top 25 of the players at the qualifying sites.
  • Camp/Event
  • Southern Junior Masters
  • 6/19/22 to 6/20/22
  • Score: 73-76 Finished 7/40. Was in the final group after day 1 but didn't have my best stuff on day 2 so was unable to close the gap with the leaders.
