As a young athlete, I developed a strong work ethic by playing competitive baseball. I was fortunate to have coaches and parents that taught me to recognize and strengthen my weaknesses on and off the baseball field in order to better myself for the next game. This helped me to better understand the commitment for myself and my team and that hard work leads to gains on and off the field. As an eighth grader, I realized I had reached my potential in baseball and desired to look for a different competitive outlet for myself. I had played golf with my dad for fun and started to develop a desire to improve my game and grow competitively. For a year, I worked to overcome the obstacle of leaving the competitive spirit of baseball and transformed this way of thinking to golf. As a freshman, I earned a position on the varsity team at my high school.
Through golf, I have learned to overcome obstacles and to take life one event at a time. I have learned that maintaining relationships with my teammates is as important as being competitive. Being self motivated and a quick thinking problem solver I have been able to accomplish both of these aspects on my high school team. Throughout the next year and a half of high school I would like to stay on the honor roll and to continually strive to do my best academically. In college, I would like to study business and sports therapy in order to develop my own business where I will work to improve the physical attributes of all people.
