2024 Highlights Personal Statement
Hello! My name is Ryder Briggs. I am a senior (c/o 2024) at Northwood High School, in Shreveport, Louisiana. I have held above a 4.0 gpa through all 4 years of my high school career. I am a member of the student council and hold an officer position. I am the senior class president, and also play golf for the Northwood High School Golf Team. I am a member of Northwood Country Club and live on hole eleven. I finished in sixth place in the Louisiana player of the year standings in 2022 with one win, and several top ten finishes. 2023 was not a great golfing year for me due to some swing changes that I was going through with my golf instructor Chad Darby at David Toms 265. Although I did not score the best golf rounds, I still played over a dozen tournaments with LGJT, AJGA, STPGA, and NTPGA. I gained lots of benefit by sharpening my skills in other areas of my game. 2024 seems to be off to a great start with 3 wins, 1 solo 4th, and 1 T2 finish in the last 5 high school golf matches. I most recently scored -2 in an 18 hole match at Stonebridge Golf Club, -1 in a 9 hole match at Olde Oakes Golf Club, -3 in my 18 hole high school championship at Black Bear Golf Club, -1 in an 18 hole match at Querbees Golf Course(Louisiana District Tournament), and -4 in an 18 hole match at Oak Wing Golf Club(Louisiana Regionals Tournament).
I would describe myself as hard-working, determined, driven, and meticulous. I have spent more hours than I can imagine playing and practicing this great game of golf. It’s a dream to take my golfing career to the next level with being a collegiate golfer and dream to one day turn pro. My community has been behind me since day one of changing the name for golf in my hometown of Blanchard. I have been one of two golfers at Northwood to show great success in the sport that we have all grown to love. I have grown inspiration through Hal Sutton, Pro Golfer and Northwood Alumni, and I would love to be on that Wall of Fame with him one day. I am willing to work extremely hard for the success of you and my future team.
