Since I was young I’ve always tried to live life to the fullest. I really learned that lesson in fifth grade when I had a water skiing accident. While ultimately I have healed and live a normal life, there was a period of time when I was bed bound and feared I would have some lasting deficits. People always say that playing professional sports or at the collegiate level won’t happen if you’re from my small town, but because of my accident I have more drive to succeed and be as active as possible.
At a young age I became interested in golf because I would go to the golf course with my mom. It wasn’t until my sixth grade summer that I really started to play competitively and then after my seventh grade year I decided not to play football but focus on golf as a fall sport during my eighth grade and following years to come.
Through out the summer months I am able to participate in First Tee, MSGA and New England Jr PGA tour events. While these matches are helpful to me, ultimately I’ve learned that my team events help to drive my individual success even more. The daily competition during practice, comparing notes on courses, slopes, speeds and distance continuously help shape my abilities. The last two years my high school team has won both our conference and State Championships for class C and I’m looking forward to two more years of success with my teammates. My ultimate goal is to continue that success on the collegiate level.
My long-term goal is to be able to work in the golf industry. I am hoping that I will be able to play at the next level, obtain my business degree and continue to work around the sport that I have so much passion for. I understand that no one has perfected this game and that there are always things to work on and make better. I think my abilities to take criticism, adapt, and work hard will help me achieve my goals.
