I began playing golf in March 2020, thanks Covid. But seriously, thanks because I love golf. I honestly didn’t even know I could hit a golf ball. I just played soccer and baseball. I used to be a keeper on my high school and travel soccer teams, but I decided that my golfing was too important to risk injury in the keep. I still play high school baseball. I’m a first baseman. Obviously a lefty.
In terms of golf, I shaved 7 shots off my average this summer alone. I won our local Junior Championship in July with a 77 (my competition best so far). My junior league team just qualified for the mid Atlantic/Carolinas regional PGA tournament. I also just competed in our local amateur for the first time and finished with an 83-78 two-day score.
This year I will continue to complete in MAPGA events, local and high school competitions, and the Under Armor Junior Tour. I will also be taking more advanced classes in school. I hope to qualify for the state tournament this year too.
I’ve practiced and played every day for the last year and a half (unless there was snow on the ground—and even then my coach opened the range for me in the winter). This is what I want to do for the rest of my life.
