I started playing golf when I was 8 years old. Ever since, golf has become an obsession as I want to always practice and become a better golfer than the day before. That work ethic comes in handy allowing me to stay focused on what I want. Eventually, Coach Mark Dubbs Jr. from Marriotts Ridge High School recognized my progress and invited me on his team the summer before my freshman year. After discussion, my parents and I moved to Ellicott City, MD from Rockville, MD for both the great athletic and academic opportunities available. Ultimately, it was a great decision as the school soon won 2 more golf state titles by the end of my first two years of high school, extending their list to 7 in a row. So far, high school golf has provided me with a great learning experience including understanding the bond of a team and helping further ignite the fiery competitiveness within me. In general terms, golf has taught me many good qualities but the main ones are the keys to being responsible and showing perseverance. This has a big impact on both my nature and my academics. Throughout my academic career, I have been an honor roll student and have a current 3.89 unweighted GPA so far in high school. Being a student-athlete is very time consuming, but through time management, I can make it feel effortless while still enjoying the flavors of being a teenager.
