I believe I would be an asset to a collegiate team through my coach-ability, perseverance, and leadership skills. I am very coach-able through my attitude and athleticism. I realize my athletic ability always has room for improvement, and my attitude towards my coaches and teammates reflects that. My competitive nature makes me strive to be a leader both on and off the course, challenging my myself and my teammates to be better players and better people. I’m not afraid to fight back when adversity comes. I was a competitive gymnast for 10 years, and early on had to persevere through the death of my coach and overcome adversity and continue to improve. I applied these skills to golf and went from shooting in the one-hundreds to shooting high seventies regularly because I made a choice to put in the hard work necessary to lower my score.
I want to be a student athlete because it will allow me to grow, individually and as part of a team, both academically and athletically. Being an athlete is more than being competitive, it is being able to work with your teammates and build off each other.
