Hi. My name is Aiden Wurm. I am a Junior at Dewitt High School in Dewitt, Michigan which is just outside of Lansing, Michigan.
I currently have a 3.6 GPA and I am looking for a school with a strong academic program and competitive golf team that will allow me to pursue my education while playing college golf. I want to continue to challenge myself in the classroom and on the golf course.
I have been playing golf now for three years and competitively for 5 months. After golfing competitively for 6 weeks, I earned a spot in the State finals based on individual qualifying score. Building off my sophomore season, I have continued to improve my golf game by participating in over 20 tournaments on the Calloway Meijer and Northern Michigan Junior Tour’s. I picked up my first win this summer, had a few top 5’s and top 10’s. When I am not playing in tournaments, I am working on my game by practicing and playing daily. I work at the Dewitt Golf Center which allows me to swing year-round and play in the winter indoor golf league.
Since I can remember, I have wanted to be on a team. I played the four major sports when I was younger. While on those teams, I learned to respect my teammates and fellow competitors and to work towards a common goal. Even though golf is more of an individual sport, I love the team aspect and rooting for my boys. It is very satisfying to work with other individuals to accomplish team goals.
I feel that I have a natural confidence and calm that will separate me from others. I don’t get too high or too low on the golf course, I just go about my business and take it one shot at a time. I try to limit pressure by having fun and talking with my fellow competitors.
As for goals, first, I want to attend a solid academic institution and continue my golf journey. Next, I want to compete! I want to compete against better and better golfers. Lastly, I want to be an All-American.
As for next season, I plan on playing in as many 2 and 3 day tournaments as I can including Meijer/Calloway, Northern Michigan Junior Open, Top 50 Junior Tour, PGA of Michigan qualifier, GAM qualifier and AGJA qualifiers. Thank you for your time.
