I wish to become a successful and contributing team member on a competitive golf team at an academically strong university. I want to play golf professionally, but I am realistic that if it does not become feasible I will have a degree to build a career. I am different from other recruits in the following ways:
1. I have had to deal with adversity my entire life as I have struggled with dysfluency (stuttering). I have used strategies learned to overcome them and be successful at school, work, and in life. Mastering the golf game is also an ongoing challenge, but I have a positive attitude and can persevere through challenging situations.
2. Nobody works harder and cares more about doing well in golf than I do. I am obsessed with the sport, but I am still able to balance school work, work, and other interests. My high school coaches awarded me The Most Improved Player in my Sophomore season.
3. I am easygoing and listen to coaches and teachers and I am respectful to others and cheer on my teammates.
4. I work hard at a local golf course so that I can purchase my equipment to take the financial burden off my parents even though I may not have to. I care about pulling my own weight.
Please give me an opportunity and I am confident that I will be a good fit for your team. I have reference letters that I can supply to you as needed. Thank you!
