My passion for golf can be found in my love of the game and how the game makes me feel grounded. When I step onto a course, it’s like stepping into another world. The highs and lows of my life outside of golf fall away and my focus is only on the beauty of my surroundings, the fairways, the ball and how I am going to approach each hole. I have improved my scores through a mental tactic focusing on aspects of the game I can control. The seemingly endless ability to keep improving drives me to strive for success. I enjoy all aspects of training from golf drills and course play to physical conditioning and mental approaches. I truly enjoy immersing myself in the process.
Access to a top rated, challenging golf course has also contributed to my success and playing ability. I have been playing Crystal Downs for years and now also work there as a caddy. The short but difficult 6560 yard course requires significant course management and discipline. There are no straight putts, never a flat lie, and always a blowing wind off Lake Michigan. These conditions have taught me key skills that have improved my ability to hit different types of shots off the tee and onto and around the greens.
My proven ability to succeed academically while balancing high level golf participation with extracurricular activities and work has prepared me well to balance the demands of a student athlete at the collegiate level.
My golf achievements, scores and rankings can be viewed here and my academic and activity resume is also attached for you to review. Videos of my swing and technique can be observed on NCSA along with tournament rounds on "X" (Twitter) @Winnrobinson14.
