Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Ander Ibarra, and I am a Mexican golfer.

First of all, I want to say that I have been playing this sport since I was 8 years old, since then, I never stop playing, because this sport is my life. When I was 9 years old, I started playing competitive golf, so I have been playing competitive golf for 9 years. I consider myself as a player with lots of experience.

When I started, it was just like a hobby, but then with time, it started to be something more, like a passion, which is now. Everyday I practice, I try to be better than the day before, and I like to make my teammates be part of the game too, finding ways and games to improve our game, but also having a lot of fun.

When I was an exchange student over Missouri, I loved the way how my friends were getting more interested on the game while I was with them, and I know that I can share my attitude with my teammates, helping them to be successful player, and also players with a healthy and a positive attitude.

Golf is my life  and this is  what I want to do.

Personally, I feel myself as a really good candidate for any team, not just because of my game, but also because I try to help my teammates as much as I can.

  • ActivitiesThis is Ander Ibarra, I am 18 years old, I am from Morelia, Mexico and I am a very competitive golfer. I graduate on 2020 (this school year) I played for the Warrensburg Tigers last year, and the season went pretty well, and now I am playing for a private Golf Club, called "Club Campestre de Morelia", I have been playing golf for almost 10 years and I have gotten some awards. I’m really proud of all these results and I am sure I will do better. Lately I have been playing some regional tournaments here in Mexico, which includes 6 states of Mexico, and I played some National tournaments also, in the first regional tournament that I played this year, I got 4th place, with the scores of 78-73 (with an average of 29 putts per day). My next regional tournament is on November, I am also recording my game at the tournaments so you can see it on a video, and I will be sharing my scores with you. I am very interested in being part of your program, I would like to study and do what I like the most which is playing golf, and I want to know what do you need from me to make this dream possible. I consider myself as a tenacious and a very competitive person, I always try my best at the course and I never give up, I help that with my discipline. After school I go practice golf for at least 3 hours every day, which has given me a good technique and knowledge of my game. At school I am similar, I try to have the best grades as possible, I finish what I have started, and I consider myself an organized person. I was an exchange student at Warrensburg, Missouri, where I played the golf season. My teammates became my family, and we all improved drastically, I showed them some drills that will make our game improve, but also having a lot of fun, I think I was the person who made all the team to get closer, we were at the course until there wasn’t sunlight. I had a really good time with my team, and at the end of the season we made it into state championships as a team, which didn’t happen since 10 years ago. I am wondering if you have any positions available on your team for the Fall Semester? Please let me know if you need any more golfing or academic information. Attached is my Profile, my SAT scores and my Transcripts, I look forward to hearing back from you and learning more about the men's golf program.
