My name is Jack Burke, a class of 2024 golfer from Nottingham High School North, NJ. I have been playing golf for many years, but I have been an athlete my whole life. Whether it's playing baseball, soccer, basketball, and more, I love playing all types of sports. My focus has shifted towards golf as I have found a greater appreciation for all aspects of the game. I have spent the past several years working hard to try and improve my game. I focus on my work ethic, attitude, and my mindset to really hone in my skills. I have always had the drive to be the best in everything that I do, which I think is what separates me from other athletes. At my high school, I have had the honor play on the Varsity Golf Team for each year of my high school career, in addition to being Team Captain for those 3 years as well. Also, I have been on the soccer team at my high school since Freshman year. Being on 2 different teams has allowed me to practice my time management skills and my ability to communicate with my peers. I am very thankful to all of my coaches for being extremely supportive in all my endeavors- on the field and off.
Off the course, I continue to strive academically, putting my best effort forward in the classroom. I am a highly motivated student, and have earned grades that reflect so. During the past 3 years of high school, I have completed 10 Honors courses and 2 AP classes. I plan to take 1 more AP class and 1 more honors course during my time at Nottingham High School. I will also be participating in a college level English course, which is in conjunction with my local community college. This will help prepare me for the rigorous college classes that I plan to take in the future.
I would be a great candidate for a collegiate level golf team due to my desire to learn, impressive teamwork skills, and the respect I show to everyone around me. I believe there is always room to grow, whether that is as a person or an athlete. There will always be something you can learn from somebody. I want to be able to gain as much knowledge as possible during my career as a golfer. I am always grateful to be a part of a team, because of the bonds that are created and having people to fall back on to when things may not go your way. I show respect to everyone around me, whether that is my peers, coaches, superiors, mentors, and more. I value opinions of others in any situation and want to make sure I acknowledge all of them.
