Personal Statement

Golf is what I call my favorite sport. It has taught me so many life lessons through my whole golf career. It has taught me to be patient with my game which helps me to bring it into the world to be patient with others and myself. It has taught me to problem-solve - what to do on each and every shot. This helps me to problem-solve in all my school work and in everyday decision making. In the summer I work forty hours a week and every day after work I head to the golf course to work on my game.

Working with a swing coach last summer turned my whole golf game from good to great. I competed in summer tournaments when I was not working.

Last season I was named captain of the team which brought upon me the chance to be the team leader and motivate my teammates to do their best at every practice and tournament. I am proud to say we as a team got Second place at our Conference Championship. That was a very big deal and a great accomplishment and as an individual I qualified for State.

I take school very seriously. I have been in the National Honor Society for two years with a 3.48 GPA. I enjoy learning and I have had great teachers to help me to succeed in my academics.

My college goals are to make a positive difference for the team- on and off the course- and to be the best person I can be to help my teammates out in whatever way I can. I always put team first because if we do not have a close team then none of our team goals will be accomplished. Because of the passion I have for golf, the amount of effort I put in the academics and how much I would care about the team, I would make a great addition to your roster.

  • Camp/Event
  • DUEL MATCH VS FREMONT ST. JOE CC
  • 8/26/15 to 8/26/15
  • Today was a decent day until the last two hole when I finished bogey bogey. I shot a 36 i was one over. Played pretty good but screwed up my last holes for the match. but i was medalist for the match and our team got its first win of the season. the course was called Sycamore Hills in Fremont, OH. It played at 3,260 yards and rating is 34.8 with a slope at 117. par 35.
  • Camp/Event
  • Duel match vs Lakota
  • 8/20/15 to 8/20/15
  • August 20th, we had a duel match vs Lakota at a Course at Nature trails golf course which is a par 36 that plays about a 2700 yards for the nine we played and rating for the course is 63.5 and the slope was 98. But this course is very tight. Also I shot a 38 with an eagle and a birdie. I was struggling through the round but finished decent and got medalist on the team and on the match again.
  • Camp/Event
  • Duel match Vs. New Reigal
  • 8/17/15 to 8/17/15
  • But at Loudon Meadows on August 17, we had a duel match vs. New Reigal High School. We shot as a team 203 and New reigal shot a 189. Today personally was a struggle with just my game just didn't start out to hot but fished strong finishing up with a 39.and i got medalist on the team and out of the match. So I was in the 30s that's my goal and yeah iknow I struggled and I should of played better but it tells you that a bad score is in the 30s it means I gotta be making some progress.
  • Camp/Event
  • LAKOTA INVITE
  • 8/14/15 to 8/14/15
  • Well today was a little bit better then my last tournament. It was at Loudon Meadows Golf Course. It is our home Course. It's a Par 71 it plays 6000 yards and its rating Is 68.10 and slope Is 118. Today was the Lakota Invite. I shot a 76 40 on the front and a 36 on the back. Today my putting again was a struggle. It was a little windy so it made the course a little harder but all in all I should of played way better. My tee game is strong and same with my irons too. But just short game that I'd usually my strongest part was my weakest. But I got in second place as an individual so it wasn't all that bad. I just wish I played better at my home course. Next is a duel match on Monday.
  • Camp/Event
  • The Allen East Invitational
  • 8/11/15 to 8/11/15
  • Today was a aggravating round I shot a 80, 42 front and 38 on back at Colonial golfers club. The course was 69 rating and has a 123 slope. I was hitting the ball pretty solid at most hands. But my putting was my very weak point today. I had 5 3 putts I just couldn't get the feel for the greens. We get tomorrow and Thursday off and we are back in action on Friday at our home course. But I am going to practice a lot of putting and do some drills and long putting drills to get close to the hole and just some 3-5 foot putts.
  • Camp/Event
  • The Royal Invitational
  • 8/10/15 to 8/10/15
  • Well today was a decent round but the last 3 holes I screwed up on. I was 3 over then I went bogey, bogey, double to shoot a 77 and I was medalist for the tournament. Its Par 70. Played 5517 and Course Rating 67.5 with slope of 118. Our team got in 5th place out if 7th place. But I know they are gunna work to be better each day. Also I know I should of played better and work on not making those mistakes again.
  • Camp/Event
  • Dual Match VS Sandusky St. Mary's Central Catholic High School
  • 8/07/15 to 8/07/15
  • Today was our first Event to Start out our season for my school team. we played against The best team in the league. This golf course was a tricky one because it is very tight course so you have to keep the ball in play. Our team lost to St. Marys. The Front 9 is 2815 yards, Par 35 and rating is 32.8 and the slope is 97. I was low man of the duel match with a 37. I played pretty good a couple miscues from the tee ball that put me in trouble but I was able to turn it around with my approach shots. Felt good with my game.
  • Camp/Event
  • Junior Boys State Championship
  • 7/27/15 to 7/28/15
  • Well this was a frustrating summer of golf tournaments. The last two days I had a tournament in Akron, Ohio. The golf course was called Chenoweth Golf Course. Course was Par 71, Rating 68.5, course slope 121, and it played at 6110 yards. So it was a short course but it was tight and hilly. But that's no reason for me to struggle like I did the last two days. First day I shot an 86 43 on the front and 43 on the back. My tee ball was solid. My irons were what killed me. And I struggle a little bit on chipping. Day 2 I shot an 86 also today I was hitting the ball pretty solid but when I had a miss hit it was really bad that put me in big trouble. I went 47 on the front and a 39 on the back. Today was okay I started out solid then the Par 5s absolutely killed me. My tee ball was pretty good except 2 holes and my irons on the front were harendus but got better on the back. Short game was decent too. It's hard to know why I struggled so much in my tournaments because practice rounds were good and I wasn't nervous and my mental game was in good form except one hole it got the best of me. This still gives me Huge motivation to go back on the course and get better. I got a week and half before my school.season starts I will strive for greatness
  • Camp/Event
  • Brian N Hoeflinger Memorial
  • 7/16/15 to 7/16/15
  • The course was a par 71 that played at 6,250 yards with the Course Rating at 70.2 and slope 124. Beautiful day 78 degrees light breeze. course was wet from 4 inches of rain in the last couple days. I shot an 81(40-41). Got in 17th place out of 39 players. I played better then my other Tournaments I was hitting more solid, but when I missed hit it, it got me in some trouble which cost me strokes. My short game was decent, what killed me the most were my four three puts I had today. Could of shot a 76 today if not my putting. I left a lot of opportunities to change my round to a great round. Got one more tournament for the summer. Got lots of work to do in my week off of tournaments before my last tournament.
  • Camp/Event
  • Lew Osterman Memorial
  • 7/06/15 to 7/07/15
  • Got in 28th place out of 32. Link like course plays at 6553, Rating 70.8,slope at 126. First Day-85 (37-48) Second day was rained out, but we got in 9 holes shot a 45. I was very disappointed in my game today I thought I was completely ready for the course. Really struggled on the back 9 my first day then struggled today. This has got me very determine to get everything straighten out and ready to go full gear for next tournament. Not getting the good scores on the table that I need to have. Going to fix my game and mental game back where I used to be and work as hard as possible.
  • Camp/Event
  • Glass City Open
  • 6/30/15 to 6/30/15
  • Cloudy day 68 degrees. Course in great shape but soggy from 6 inches of rain in the past couple days. White tees played at 6000 yards, rating 68.7, slope 121. I shot a 83, 46 on the front and a 37 on the back. Got in 16th place out of 32 in the 16-18 age group. Short game strong, just had a bad day today. Going to practice very hard on my weak points in my game until my next tournament.
