My name is Trey Tintinger. I am a high jumper from Helena, Montana. I am currently a high jumper at Pima Community College in Tucson working on finishing my associate degree. I plan to finish at Pima with my degree after a couple of classes this summer. I am looking to transfer to a four-year school to complete my education and compete in track. My goal is to get an education studying business and to compete at the highest level in track.
Over the last two years, I have been working my way back into competitive high jump after about three years away from the sport due to the covid pandemic and injury. During high school I was a four-time national champion in USA Track and Field and the state champion and state record holder in Montana with a jump of 7’-1.5”. After surgery on my ankle in the summer of 2020 and a year of wondering what I was going to do with my life, Coach Harrison at Pima gave me a shot to get back into track. I lost 40 pounds and rehabilitated my ankle during my first year at Pima and now I am back competing this year. My top jump so far this year is 6’-11”. More importantly, I am also taking academics more seriously and I am expecting to earn an associate degree from Pima this summer. I am in great shape and feeling good about the future.
I didn’t take academics seriously in high school and I am now understanding the consequences of that. After my junior year at Helena High School in Helena, Montana, my parents got me into the Spire Academy (an Olympic Training Center) and Grand River Academy in Ohio to finish my senior year. Unfortunately, Covid ended track competition in March of 2020 and I went back home to finish my senior year online. I did graduate in 2020 but my grades were not good enough to be NCAA eligible for school and track. Based on my high school grades, I do not qualify for NCAA athletics but I’m hoping my work at Pima Community College, currently a 2.85 GPA, will give me a second chance.
I am getting my profile up to date on the NCAA Eligibility Center and my NCAA ID # is 1708866946. Please let me know if I could fit in your track program. I can send all my transcripts from high school and community college when needed. Thank you for your time and consideratiom.
Thank you,
Trey Tintinger.
