I began learning to play the game of golf my freshman year of high school. In order to gain more experience competing I participated in the Southwest Juniors Golf Tour Program. To be a successful and consistent player, I realize I still have work to do. I pride myself on my integrity as well as my appetite to continue to grow and develop as a player. I am a professional on the course. My coach will tell you that I am easy to coach and that my teammates respect me and love having me on the team. I am proud of how far I have come in my young career. Between my sophomore year and junior year I have lowered my 18 hole average by 11 strokes. I am committed this off season (2019) to further developing my skills as I prepare for my senior campaign.
I earned Academic All Ohio as a Senior. I earned All Conference Honorable Mention honors my Junior year and Senior year and earned the SWC Conference Sportsmanship Award for my leadership and sportsmanship as a Senior. I was also a low scoring Medalist two times for the matches against Amherst High School and Lakewood High School as a junior and two-time medalist winner as a senior. I shot an 80 at the SWC Preview this fall and my best low score in season was 39 which I made twice. During practices my low round was 37 at our home course.
I have a new private coach, Nick Paez, this year (2019) to help continue to improve my game. Up through my junior year I have not used a driver in matches as my focus was on irons so I am working to improve getting off the tee. With Nick’s training, I now have a club speed up to 110 mph, ball speed at 152 mph, can carry the ball 266. This spring (2019) I scored a career low 78 and career long drive of 308.
In addition to golf, I am on my high school's cross country and track teams. I was named Male Student Athlete of the Season at my high school fall of my junior year. Fall of my senior year was nominated for SWC Conference Player of the Week. I am also a member of the school’s ski club, Robotics Team and Academic Data Science Team. I have also been volunteering through St. Augustine’s Hunger Center since I was in the seventh grade. I was selected to represent my high school at the National Leadership Forum-Engineering.
I have a job this summer working at Windmill Golf Center in Macedonia, Ohio. They have a 27 hole short course, driving range, practice bunkers and a large indoor putting and chipping area when the weather is bad. I plan to work on my short game at this facility.
I'm looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an impact in your program. I hope to have a coach believe in my ability and see my potential.
