I have been playing golf for five years starting in the seventh grade. At the beginning of my high school career, I made varsity and have been on the varsity team each of my three years playing. In my first year at Harvey, I was ranked 2nd on my team out of eight teammates. My second and third years I was able to achieve the number one ranking on my team, as well as securing the MVP award both of those years.
My academic journey has led me on the path of honors courses for the past six years which was followed by taking college courses since my sophomore year. In addition to academics, I also love giving back to people. I have volunteered for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program in my freshman and sophomore years. I am currently involved in National Honors Society and have recently been nominated to take part in a new program that involves mentoring freshman. This new program consists of teaching students how to become leaders and build character with a positive outlook.
Golf has done nothing less than change my life for the better. It has instilled great character traits like patience, integrity, honesty, work ethic, and dependability. It has taught me how to remain calm in stressful and high-pressure situations.
I continue to be very committed to my golf game. After our scheduled practice sessions are over, I continue honing my skill on the range or going to the local golf courses. I have been playing in a local tour called NCJT for two years and have gained invaluable experience by forcing myself to compete with the higher level of play than I was typically exposed to. I feel all these experiences have enabled me to become a well-rounded player and person. I am very coachable and want the challenge to take my game to the collegiate level. I know my intensity and drive to improve will be a good addition to any college team.
I appreciate this opportunity and thank you for your time.
