Hello, my name is Caden Stubbs. I will be a Senior this year at 6A Henry D. Sheldon High School in Eugene, Oregon. I have been playing team golf for 3 years. I was first introduced to the sport at the age of 6, playing occasionally for fun with my dad and brother. Having had a bit of an introduction to the sport, I was excited to join the golf team my freshman year to learn, improve, and have fun. From the minute I did, I’ve been playing golf non-stop, competing during the school golf season, at OGA tournaments in the off-season, taking lessons, and working diligently to improve my game. I had no idea when joining the golf team that this sport would become such a passion of mine and become something that I absolutely love to do.
During my sophomore year, I participated in mostly JV tournaments and finished in first place in most of those tournaments. During my Junior year, I played Varsity for most of the events and was a solid 3rd for the team.
Both academically and athletically, I’ve been working hard to achieve the goals I’ve set for myself. Academically, I’ve always had the goal of obtaining a degree in higher education. Through classes in high school, areas that have sparked my interest are Business, Education and Architecture. I look forward to working hard academically this year in order to put myself in the best position possible for my college career. Athletically, my goals include playing and competing in golf at the college level. I am hard working, positive, confident, highly committed, and am always striving to improve.
Playing golf has taught me a lot about myself and being part of a team. It’s taught me about persistence, patience and mental fortitude. I have learned how to stay mentally tough and persevere in challenging times and feel those qualities separate me from many other golfers. I look forward to applying my skills, continuing to grow, and continuing to be part of a team. I love the pressure that comes with playing for a team and supporting my teammates both on and off the course.
