When I was a freshman, I played in every single Varsity tournament and was named the Most Valuable Golfer for my high school team. I was also the only freshman from Western Pennsylvania to qualify for the Sub-Regional Tournament. As a sophomore, I suffered a knee injury and didn't play for the first half of the season. I was able to work through physical therapy and fight my way back onto the golf course. I quickly climbed my way back to being the best golfer in our district and qualified for the Sub-Regional Tournament once again. At that tournament, I tied for 10th place with a score of 75 and then fell to 11th after a playoff hole. The top 10 boys advanced to states, so I was more determined than ever to get better and go further. And then 2020 happened. Over that summer, I played in a full 10 tournaments through the WNYPGA Junior Tour and finished on top of their leaderboard out of forty 16-18 year old boys! I also played in many small, local tournaments. For my high school, there were many delays and canceled tournaments because of Covid19, but we still played in a shortened season. I won districts, came in first place in the state qualifier for our region, and played in states in October! It was a great experience. I tied for 28th place and can’t wait to return this year and improve even more. This past summer, I played in several AJGA tournaments as well as many small, local tournaments. I won every high school match, came in 1st place in districts again, and will compete at states.
I don’t just love the game of golf; I plan to turn this obsession into a career. I would like to pursue a major and eventually a job in the field of golf course management. I've had a small taste of this life when, as a 14-year-old, I obtained a summer job working right alongside the Pro, Kirk Stauffer, at my home golf course. The next summer as a 15-year-old, I again worked at the golf course, but under a new Pro and management. It was a great experience working for two different Pros with different personalities and different ideas of how things should run. I love to spend as much time as possible at the golf course from opening to close of every season.
