I have been busy practicing with the Newport Golf Team (I go to Greenwood High School but because of the size of our schools, we combine with Newport's golf team). I play in the #3 spot and have officially brought my standing score average to under 80. I also played with the Harrisburg Junior Golf Association this summer where he consistently placed in 3rd-5th place. I landed a job at Lost Creek Golf Course the last 2 summers doing maintenance making little money but I got a free membership out of it - so I golf there almost daily when I'm not on another course. Golf truly is a love of mine. I am either hunting or golfing - which brings me to my other dilemma - finding a campus that has a golf team I like and my major. I am hoping to study something along the lines of environmental studies. I have grown up in a small town and a small school so I would like to stay on a smaller campus for college as well.
So, a little bit more about me. Although I have had a club in my hand since I was old enough to walk, I was always a social golfer and a soccer player. However, in August of 2019 I broke my arm. This caused me to have to sit out the entire freshman season of soccer. I knew at that point that I would never be a starter and probably never play varsity so I made the decision to start playing school golf my sophomore year. Both my coaches and I feel it was the best decision I could have made. While I didn't want to break my arm, I think my mishap was truly a blessing in disguise. My love of the game has just exploded and my dedication and desire to do well has improved with every match. I also have great grades. I have yet to take my SATs but plan to this fall/winter. Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about me.
