Hi! My name is Cody Anderson. I’ll be turning 16 in a few weeks. I’ve loved sports from the time I can remember.
I played basketball in 7th and 8th grade.
I started playing football in 6th grade and made the decision to no longer play after this last season. I love the game of football but this past season many of my friends were injured and had concussions. I decided I wanted to try something different. My positions would vary but mainly played center and tackle.
I started playing baseball when I was 7 years old and currently play on my high school‘s team. I play first base and also have pitched some.
I started playing golf for fun about 2 years ago. I would go out a few times in the summer with friends. After deciding to no longer play football I decided to play golf for my high school team. I’ve been getting lessons from my assistant coach. This winter we’ve been working in his garage on form and technique. I’ve also taken a private lesson from a golf pro and plan to take some additional lessons to continue growing in this sport that I love playing. I enjoy being outdoors and the fact that it’s a lifelong sport.
I know how to handle adversity. At the age of 8 my father passed away. While it‘s difficult growing up without a dad, I’ve been blessed and thankful for all the love and support of family, friends and coaches.
I do well in school and maintain good grades while playing sports and helping my mom around the house. I have worked a part time job the last couple of summers as well. I am a peer leader and am also involved in FBLA at school.
All of my coaches have indicated that I am coachable. I listen to what they want me to work or improve on, and I adjust and tweak those areas that need improvement. I make plays to get the job done. I comprehend and adapt to the lessons they provide to make me a better player and athlete. While I may not be the best I work hard to grow personally and for my teammates.
