I started playing golf much later than many kids looking to play golf in college. Growing up I played football and my only exposure to golf was some family fun rounds. The summer before my freshman year I picked up the game and developed a love and passion for it. I decided to make the switch from football to golf and worked very hard the next few months to make my high school golf team in the fall. I was very determined to make the team and had a successful first season, but I knew I was capable of much more. I worked hard at my game in the off season and progressed to the next level. I shot my first under par rounds during my sophomore season and I was a standout in the county my junior year finishing 18
The change from football to golf taught me many great values, such as determination, integrity, and perseverance. I believe that one of my best attributes is my ability to adapt to whatever situation is thrown my way. This helps me out on the golf course, in the classroom, and even more so in life. A player with those qualities and mindset would be a great asset to any golf team. I aspire to be the best student and golfer I can be at the collegiate level.
Since I got a later start, my resume is not as long as most, but I believe I have what it takes to work hard and compete at the highest level. In a few years I have come a long way and I know that my best golf is ahead of me.
