My name is Julian Rodríguez and I am a junior at University Gardens High School in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I have been playing the game of golf since I was 8 years old. I am 5'8" and 145 lbs.
I would like to play and participate in college golf because I believe that the experience will not only help me as a golfer, but as a person. The morals and experiences taught will help me build better qualities on and off the golf course. I’ve been known to be a very easy-going person in golf as well as in my personal life. I am a very respectful person and always try to help people anyway I can.
Since the weather in Puerto Rico is summer all year long, I try to practice between 3 to 4 days a week plus a Sunday tournament. I work out and exercise three days a week in between golf practice days. I have a personal trainer that does my workouts in my house in 1-hour sessions.
During my freshman year of high school, I maintained a 3.8+ for my GPA. As a sophomore and a Junior last year I kept the same GPA of 3.8+ trying my best to balance academics and golf. My school is uses a STEM curriculum based on 8 courses with 2 Advanced Math and 2 Science classes. It is one of the most prestigious and competitive schools in the island. I created a schedule and a time-management plan that balances my studies and golf, keeping my priorities straight.
I have already decided on my major, a BS in Math and Biology to pursue a career as a Medical Doctor.
My desired goals for college golf are to be able to play on the team and not sit out for the season. I want to participate in tournaments around the country. I love to travel but still understand that academics and grades are very important.
