Personal Statement

I am currently a Freshman at Central Connecticut State University on a golf scholarship.  After the 2018 Spring Golf Season, CCSU will be terminating their Golf program. I am now reevaluating my options and looking at potential College/Universities, where I can continue my studies and to be part of a strong golf program. I want to train and win.  I will be looking for recruitment for the Fall 2019 season. Below is my list of accomplishments from 2017-2014.  Also I have added a list of my College event finishes, and can submit my spring and summer schedule upon request. Thank you. Joe Tucker

  • 5th 74-77 (151)
  • Camp/Event
  • 2015 Long Island Junior Championships
  • 6/13/15 to 6/14/15
  • Tied 5th 77-71 (148) The first day I got off to a slow start shooting a 77,which wasn't bad for seeing the course for the first time and not having a yardage book. I learned from what I saw on the course the first round and shot the low round the second day. I had a good time at this tournament and I moved from 10th place from 5th the second day.
  • Camp/Event
  • 2015 IMG Academy World Golf Sectional Qualifier
  • 5/29/15 to 5/29/15
  • T17th 79 This was a one day tournament and unfortunately I started too slow being 5 over thru first 6 holes.
  • Camp/Event
  • RIIL High School State Championship
  • 5/29/15 to 5/30/15
  • 12th 80-79 (159)
  • Camp/Event
  • 2015 Spinal Tech Championship
  • 5/16/15 to 5/17/15
  • T3rd place 74-75 (149) This was a difficult course if you have not seen it before because it requires you to map out your shots and not just bomb away. I was happy how I started the first 9 of the tournament with a bogey free -1 playing it very safe and how I finished the last 9 of the tournament also with a bogey free -1.
  • Camp/Event
  • Liberty National Jr. Invitational
  • 4/29/15 to 4/30/15
  • 46th 87-86 (173) This was not the outcome I wanted in my first National event but it was a great learning experience playing out of New England for the first time. One particular lesson I learned was the importance of taking double bogey out of play whenever possible. This event helped me finish well in the following tournaments this year.
  • Camp/Event
  • 2015 Liberty National Qualifier
  • 4/26/15 to 4/26/15
  • 1st place 74. This event had one qualifying spot out of 50 kids. This was a good win for me because I haven't particularly played well at this course. My game plan going into this tournament was to keep it in play and make as many pars as possible. I won by one stroke and received the qualifying spot to Liberty National which was my first national event.
  • Camp/Event
  • New England Jr. Ryder Cup
  • 4/25/15 to 4/25/15
  • T28th 83
  • Camp/Event
  • Challenge Cup Invitational
  • 4/20/15 to 4/21/15
  • Individually: 12th 76-80 (156) Team: 1st. This was a high school and individual tournament. The weather was humid and rainy. These were my first good rounds of the year coming out of the long 2014-15 New England winter. I was the anchor for my team and the last group for our age division. Our team was in the lead and they needed me to make bogey on 18 to win by 1. I didn't know this before hand but I did know it was close I needed to finish well for us to have a shot at winning. I drilled my drive off the 18th tee and my second shot was short left about 20 yards. I told myself to just get up and down and made a 6 footer for par and our team won by 2 shots, this was awesome.
  • Camp/Event
  • New England Jr. Amateur Championship
  • 8/18/14 to 8/20/14
  • T23rd 81-73-75 (229)
  • Camp/Event
  • RIGA Jr. Amateur Championship
  • 8/10/14 to 8/14/14
  • Semi-Finalist in Match Play
  • Camp/Event
  • Francis Ouimet Jr. Stroke Play Championship
  • 6/29/14 to 6/30/14
  • 3rd 74-76 (150) This was one of the first events when I started gaining experience playing in the last group.
  • Camp/Event
  • Big "I" Insurance Youth Classic RI Qualifier
  • 6/22/14 to 6/23/14
  • 3rd 77-72 (149) This event is one that I wasn't in the last group but knew I had to score low to have a chance at qualifying, and I shot 72, 1st alternate.
  • Camp/Event
  • New England Jr. Amateur Championship
  • 8/18/13 to 8/20/13
  • 34th 78-82-76 (236)
