Hard work, discipline, and personal responsibility. These are three ideals that were instilled in me by my parents as a small child and are constantly in the front of my mind daily as I work towards my goal of attending college as a student athlete. I want to attend a college that will not only help me be successful academically and athletically, but will also play a part in molding me to be the best person and man that I can become.
What sets me apart from any other student athlete that you are considering bringing into your program? I won’t be outworked by anyone and I am coachable. I have the talent and drive to be the best player on the golf course but I know it takes countless hours of practice and sacrifice to get to that achievement. I am confident in my abilities but I realize that there is much room for improvement in my game. I have played multiple sports my entire life. As a child, I played football, basketball, and baseball all year. I currently also play varsity football and basketball for my high school. I know that balancing multiple sports and keeping up with my schoolwork and other extracurricular activities will help me with the discipline needed to be a student athlete in college.
I have been around and have played golf as far back as I can remember, but didn’t start playing competitively until I was 15. My first year on the varsity golf team (2023) I earned All Region honors and was our team's number 1 in many of our matches. In just over a year’s time I have made tremendous improvement in my game, and there is much more to come. Unfortunately, our school is small and does not have a “home” course to be able to utilize during the year. The course which allows us to play our home matches is about 30 minutes away and we can only use the course to practice during the season after school. This is challenging but I spend as much time on the driving range and chipping and putting greens as I can, and play all the rounds which I can fit in.
I strive to be the best person I can be in every aspect of my life. Academically, I am an Honors student and member of the Senior Beta Club, National Honors Society, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. While sports is a passion and drive I have, I know what I do in the classroom matters most. If I can’t achieve academic excellence, I won’t have a chance to achieve athletic dominance. I also know that giving back is a privilege I have and that helping others is just as important as anything else I do in my life. I regularly volunteer at our local soup kitchen and help coach teams for our recreation department.
So why choose me to be a part of your program? I am dedicated and eager to play at the next level and will do everything in my power to be the best player on your team. I am excited for the challenges that playing at the next level will bring and look forward to the learning and coaching that I can obtain that will make me a great student athlete for your program.
