I have played golf since I could walk. I can even remember hitting plastic golf balls down the hallway of my house when I was a toddler. At the age of 6, I played in my first golf tournament, playing 3 holes from 150 out. I placed 2nd and won the 3 hole division the following year. I continued to play golf, but it wasn’t until the summer of 2016 I began playing in summer competitive golf tournaments instead of travel baseball. Up until that summer, I had played both baseball and golf. The Clarksville Junior Golf Tour is a local tour that I participated in. Through playing CJGT I realized that I loved golf more than baseball. This is when I began to really focus on my game. I even gave up a starting position playing varsity high school baseball my junior year. When I started working with my swing coach, my scores began to improve. He encouraged me to work hard on the range but even harder around the greens. I have always heard “short game is where the money is at”. This was proven true as my hard work paid off and scores began to drop. Seeing my game improve, I have been inspired to continue to put the work in. I believe my work ethic will be a great addition to any college team. Through adversities of missing cuts in qualifying tournaments by 1 or 2 strokes, I have continued to persevere and work hard.
I would like to play college golf. I believe that my determination and work ethic will allow me a great opportunity to be a key member of any college golf team. My work ethic is not only on the golf course, but in the classroom as well. The academics at my high school are challenging and push me to reach my potential in the classroom. I have served as an officer of Fellowship of Christian Athletes for 2 years and was selected as a delegate for the Congressional Leadership Summit hosted by Congressman Marsha Blackburn. Giving back to my community is also important to me. I volunteer at Clarksville Junior Golf Tour, Clarksville National Little League, and First Baptist Church preschool Sunday school.
I look forward hearing from you and learning more about your golf program.
