Personal Statement

I have been playing volleyball since my freshman year. I was on JV and Varsity that season with a lot of varsity play time. As a sophomore I was a varsity starter playing all around. I have also played club ball since my freshman year and have been a starter playing all around both seasons. I love the sport and love learning.  I have recently picked up beach volleyball as well.  I have also been on the varsity cheer squad since my freshman year and now the varsity softball team as a starter as a sophomore. I have done all star cheerleading and gymnastics since I was 3 years old. My passion is to play volleyball in college. I have excellent grades as well.

  • I was selected for and played representing Team USA made up of girls from all over the country. We traveled to Barcelona and played teams fro Spain, Portugal, Israel, Belgium, and many others. We came in 5th out of 16 in the tournament. These girls and I had never played together and only played for the first time when we took the court. It was an amazing experience!

Her work ethic and effort stand out. As a 2024 grad, she still has time to develop physically and has the potential to grow and develop player. She has a bright volleyball career ahead of her. Work on building your lower body strength. Strength is going to help you handle challenges and gain better position. Quicker movements with reading. Be more vocal on the court. Make your presence known. You are very quiet in communication especially on the back row. That is how you gain trust amongst your teammates. Your serve receive was good. Try to do individual training sessions with a coach. Work on getting your feet all the way to the ball on passing and staying low in your movement.

Great job staying focused on the task at hand. Coachable - Responds well to coaching. Asked good questions and seemed to enjoy the learning process. Coach's Comments Shiloh was a joy to have at camp. She had such a great attitude and willingness to do whatever you asked of her. Shiloh is a 2024 grad and has a lot of time to grow before she becomes a senior. I believe if Shiloh continues her work ethic she will be a great asset to a team when she becomes a senior. No matter where you play, it is important to have a good first touch. Work on keeping your weight forward and going after any hard driven ball. Colleges love to see you go after things you might not normally go after. With you playing both front and back row, it it important to know that you can do it! If you make a mistake, shake it off and get the next ball. Be confident when you go up to swing as well as when you're back row digging. If you can work on your speed and agility I think you will improve a lot. As an OH/DS it is important to be able to get off the net as well as moving into any holes that may occur from a block. Colleges focus on working on speed during their season as well as during the off season so if you start now it will only help more.
