I played football and basketball growing up, but have dedicated the last few years to golf, making the varsity team as a freshman. I grew from 5’6” as a freshman to 6’4” as a junior. I have been playing in tournaments with STPGA, TJGT, AJGA and others. My current scoring average is 76. I know that I am pretty late to be working on a position on your team. I only started competing in golf 3 years ago and I have been steadily improving to the point that I have won several tournaments, including the Starburst Classic in Waco last month, and been in the top 3 in many more. I have a good mentor here in Austin who was a 17 year NBA player who started basketball in his sophomore year in high school so I know what can be done with determination and drive, which is something I have a lot of.
I am originally from Oklahoma and am a Cherokee Indian. I plan to study Mechanical Engineering in college so I am looking for a school where there are both great engineering and golf programs. My mom and her parents were all Chemical Engineers. I currently have a 3.9 GPA and am very disciplined about my schoolwork and never behind when we have tournaments that mean that we miss school. I am very hardworking and loyal and have mentored the younger players on our team. Please feel free to contact my coach. His name is Erik Henson and his contact information is: 512-533-5793 and [email protected].
Sincerely,
Gage Smith
