I am a 17 year old high school senior, graduating in Spring 2020. Fortunately, I found the love for golf about four years ago. Since then, I have been playing every day, trying persistently to improve my game. Golf has been my passion ever since I picked up a club for the first time. Even on vacations, my clubs travel along. In middle school, I have played both baseball and football, and neither sport compares to the challenging nature and fulfillment that golf offers.
I have heard in the past, golf being referred as a gentlemen’s sport. Now I know why. Just the camaraderie alone that exists between golfers, including complete strangers, has been a welcoming surprise. Not to mention the integrity assumed while playing. It’s the only sport that I know of, that does not require a referee to keep scores. Personally, the loyal friendships that have developed amongst my fellow teammates have been priceless.
At the start of my golf career, my scores were drastically worse. My freshman year average was 94. Sophomore year, it went down to an 84, and junior year it was an 80. This summer, my current average was 76, scoring 72 in two of the Prestige Tour events and a 69 in another Prestige Tour event. I also finished in 1st place at a TJGT tournament. My goal is to be a scratch golfer, by the end of my senior year.
My current Handicap Index is 2.2 (GHIN# 2720112), and I plan to be a scratch golfer by the end of my high school year. I am also classified active as a Final Qualifier for NCAA Eligibility Status (NCAA ID# 1907642120).
The time spent on golf has never deterred my educational goals. My grades have never fallen below a “B”, and I always make sure to leave enough time aside from golf, to study. Last year, I had an average raw GPA of 3.85, and my total high school raw GPA is 3.64 (92.59 on a 100 scale). I finished high school final year with "A" in each of my subjects.
My unrelenting determination, unwavering motivation, and ability to prioritize my time to reach my goals, makes me a good candidate for a college golf team.
