Personal Statement

My name is Davis Byrd and I am going to be a junior at Klein Cain High School. My passions are school and golf. It is important that I excel in both. I am an extremely hard worker on the course and in the classroom. I enjoy the challenges of golf. I have been on my Varsity High School team for the past two years. Up until I started high school, I played golf individually. I love and have thrived in the team atmosphere.

I am honest and a great team player. I still have a lot to learn and know that I can only get better at the collegiate level.

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • STPGA
  • 4/10/21 to 4/11/21
  • I shot 71-68 and won the tournament with a field of 90. I did not have my best stuff ball striking wise but I made very good course management decisions and scrambled very well.
  • Camp/Event
  • STPGA
  • 3/13/21 to 3/14/21
  • I shot 70-67 and placed third out of a field of close to 80. I played really well despite having very little putts fall my way on the last day.
  • Camp/Event
  • LJGT
  • 2/06/21 to 2/07/21
  • I shot 74-78 in some pretty difficult conditions, I did not have my best stuff on the last day but I fought to keep it manageable.
  • Camp/Event
  • STPGA Prestige Tour
  • 7/28/20 to 7/29/20
  • I shot 71-73. I placed 7th out of 56. The course is short but very tight, I played well but did not have a lot of putts fall my way. I had good course management and was able to bounce back after a really tough start on the second day.
  • Camp/Event
  • AJGA Junior All Star presented by Bryan College Station Events
  • 7/20/20 to 7/23/20
  • I first played the qualifier shooting 71, I got third. In the tournament I shot 72-66-72 and placed 2nd. I played really well, I made smart course management decisions which helped me capitalize on birdie opportunities and make a lot of pars. I was in the final paring the last day and had a rough start going +2 through 4 but I settled down and finished the rest of the round -1 I had so many putts that did not fall on the last day, however I maintained my spot of second place. I would consider this a very productive tournament and it taught me a lot about myself about who I am as a player and person.
  • Camp/Event
  • AJGA Bentwater
  • 7/13/20 to 7/15/20
  • I shot 75-75. I struck the ball very well and gave myself many opportunities that I didn’t capitalize on but I feel like it was a good tournament considering how tight the course is.
