Earning a spot on the LCP golf team was a game changer for me as an athlete! I was about 3 years old when I first stepped foot on a golf course. It was the highlight. My mom says you’d think I had just been to Disneyland to describe my joy that day. I continued playing with my dad occasionally, but didn’t consider that as an option because my parents didn’t know much about playing competitively and they really couldn’t afford me picking that up as an athlete. So, instead, I began with little league baseball. Later I spent five years on travel baseball and loved it. My strengths were pitching and second base. Later, I made the football and basketball teams in middle school, then my 8th grade year, our school started a golf program. I tried out and made the team, it was then I learned where I wanted to dedicate my time as an athlete!
I worked very hard, and my parents could now financially support this a bit more, so I tried out for the high school team and here I am, still in love with the game. That is where I learned about playing golf competitively. I don’t feel like it's work during the hours and hours I spend on the golf course working on my game, it's challenging, but so fun! From my parents, family, teachers, and coaches, I have learned that success comes with humility, dedication, and resilience. My hope is to model that in academics and athletics at the collegiate level. I have maintained a 3.8 GPA and continue to work at improving as a student athlete. I will work tirelessly, individually, and for the team.
