My golf career started very late. I'm fortunate to live across the street from our Golf Club and simply enjoyed hanging out with my friends at the range and putting area. I tried out for Battlefield Golf team my Freshmen year and Coach Fricke gave me a chance to prove myself on the Development Team. Our High School has a very competitive program with many past players playing collegiate golf. As I played that year, I fell in love with the game and really wanted to contribute to our team's success.
During that off-season I practiced every day and my parents provided weekly lesson's with the Assistant Pro at the Piedmont Club. My handicap went from a 20 to a 3. My Coach recommended i play a rigorous summer tournament schedule on the MAPGA Junior Tour. I finished in the Top 3 in points and qualified for the end of season Tour Championship. I decided to put my Team first and represent my High School over playing in the the Tour Championship.
During my Sophomore year I started on the Battlefield team. Coach loved my consistency and my scores were utilized in every tournament. Over the course of the season my HCP dropped to a 1. Since our Team finished first in the Regional Tournament, I had the opportunity to play in the VHSL State Tournament which was a great experience and fueled my internal fire to be a State Champion like our Number 1 seed Bryce Corbett who is playing at Radford University this year. I learned a ton about my game during the season and strive to continue to improve.
I absolutely love the game of golf and think I would be an excellent student athlete and teammate at the College level.
