Through participating in more and more tournaments in these past couple of years, I have come to thoroughly appreciate and enjoy tournament golf. I love the atmosphere of competition and the mental fortitude required to play tournament golf. As a result, I have grown as both a person and a student through playing the sport. I have played many other sports throughout my life (basketball, baseball, football, soccer, etc.), and many of these at a high level. However, golf gives me a thrill like no other and, I enjoy the individualistic aspect of the sport much more than others.
The sport has also particularly helped me in becoming a more prepared student. As a student, I used to be very team-reliant/teacher-reliant and, golf has allowed me to grow into a more proactive and independent student, which I hope will aid me in my academic career in college. However, at times I can also become too individualistic and independent with many extracurricular and curricular school activities, which is one of the reasons why I am so interested in the college golf atmosphere. I believe that by joining a golf team, I will have a more enjoyable golf experience participating through a team than I do now as I hear many stories about the fun that people have had on a golf team that plays on a high level. I think that by joining the golf team, I will have a more enjoyable college experience while playing a sport that I love dearly.
Furthermore, the competitive nature of playing golf at a high level is very enticing as I love to compete while I also hate to lose. I believe that I bring that competitive attitude wherever I go, whether it is on the course or in the classroom, and hopefully, I can continue it on a college golf team. As a result, while I am looking to the future and applying to colleges, I truly want to take my game to the next level so I can compete on an even higher level of the game, which will also, hopefully, complement my college experience to make it more enjoyable.
