Personal Statement

I am looking for a college that can offer a quality education that will enable me to pursue a bachelor’s degree in mathematics or engineering. A college that I would prefer to attend should have a challenging golf course with coaches that allow me to reach my maximum potential. In doing so, this will push me to improve my game as well as prepare me for the next stage of my life, whether it be golf or a career.

I am a three sport varsity athlete and have maintained a 4.0 cumulative GPA. I strive to do my best in all areas of my life including school, sports, and work. I have learned through golf that I can’t always be perfect, and that every shot can’t be perfect. However, I can always put in the perfect effort and accept constructive criticism to learn and improve.

Living in Pinedale Wyoming at 7,182’ elevation, I battle a 6 month offseason with a 9-hole home course. Most people think my aspirations are too high; however, through hard work, determination, and being extremely coachable, I have seen vast improvement. I am very fortunate to have parents that support me and drive 16 hours round trip twice a year to work with my golf coach.

Golf has taught me the value of good sportsmanship and honesty. I will not be satisfied until I have made a positive impact on the golf program and my teammates; the college I will be attending; and the community where I will reside. I will make every effort to improve myself on and off the golf course.

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • Wyoming 3a state championship
  • 9/20/19 to 9/21/19
  • 83, 82 for top ten finish. Weather was 40 degrees with constant rain showers, wind, and occasional hail.
  • Camp/Event
  • Pinedale invite
  • 8/20/19 to 8/21/19
  • 74 (39, 35) and 83 (47, 36). Par 72 Tied for first place and lost a playoff by making par. The first nine of the second day I wasn’t mentally prepared and had some bad breaks. Fortunately I turned it around and shot even on the back nine.
  • Camp/Event
  • Evanston invitational
  • 8/23/18 to 8/24/18
  • 92 (47, 45), 84 (39, 45)- tied for seventh place. The first day there was steady winds at 30 miles per hour with gusts up to 40. I just really couldn’t get anything going. The second day I played alright but my putting was not that good. I had 35 putts which included three three putts and one four putt. I will work on lag putts this week and do better next week.
  • Camp/Event
  • 1st tournament of the year
  • 8/09/18 to 8/10/18
  • Shot 84, 89 for 8th place. The first day I was playing good but after a long wait on a par three I went 5 over on the last four holes. I learned that I can’t control if I have to wait and that during a wait keep swinging and keep my head in the game. The second day I just was not hitting the ball good at all and went into two water hazards. I figured it would be okay as long as my short game was good to allow me to get up and down for par saves but with my putts nothing was going in. It was a tough day but I kept a positive attitude and saved myself from doing much worse
