Derek Chin '19 Recruiting Profile

Since I was five years old I've been playing hockey. In the beginning of my hockey career I played at the recreational level and from there I dedicated myself to become the best player I can be. I have always wanted to play at the collegiate level of hockey from a young age because I am able to play at one of the highest levels of hockey and receive an education in the process.

I am a very coachable player and I'm pushing myself and try to learn from my mistakes to try and reach my max potential so I can play at my highest level of performance. I also try to encourage my teammates and help point out they're mistakes so they are aware of it in the future.

In school I work and study hard to maintain high average/GPA. I am also apart of the hockey club at school where I help teach high school students how to play hockey.

Attending a college would be a once in a lifetime opportunity and experience, during that process I’d be able to push myself to be the best I can be in the classroom and on the ice. I’m open to all options that are willing to give me the opportunity to help represent their school on the ice. I hope to be able to make my previous coaches and my parents proud.

Currently I am in Sweden playing in the Men’s division as a 19 year old import playing alongside NCAA Division 1 and Division 3 graduates.
