Starting skating when I was three, and playing ice hockey since I was six, I am in love with the sport. I hope to continue playing hockey to the highest level of my ability, including college hockey as a milestone. Besides hockey, my interest in an academic aspect of college would be to pursue my interest in engineering. Currently, I am balancing my maximum effort in both academics and sports. In academics, I always perform to my best extent but don't bite off more than I can chew.
Figure skating is also a part of my life. It forces me to keep a disciplined schedule of waking up at five in the morning to skate four days a school week. While I favor hockey over figure skating, figure skating provides an advantage of improved skating skills in hockey with edges and speed. Along with this, I have experience as a goaltender that contributes to my natural style of blocking every shot I know I can, without screening my goalie. Not much will prevent me from putting myself in a position to stop a puck from reaching our net. My skills gained from figure skating and goaltending creates my unique character as a defenseman.
With my defensive role, I am determined to never give up on a play or a game. I have stopped a goal being down four to two with fifteen seconds left in the game by diving and using my stick to block an open net. I always skate like I want to be at every game and do my best even if we are losing. I take hits to make a play and if I fall, you will not even be able to catch me lying on the ice(unless I am seriously hurt). I hit when it is needed but am smart to decide when it is the best option. One thing to take note of is that I will never let someone touch my goalie in a manner of disrespect. I never put down my teammates and am respectful to everyone. I am accountable for what I do on and off the ice and take time to review the video of every game to make sure I do my best to not repeat my mistakes. I am constantly striving to improve.
